*Job Opening*: Student assistant (HiWi) for experiments on free will in
the group of J.-D. Haynes

*Description*

In our group at the Bernstein Center for Computational Neuroscience we are
currently searching for a student to help us in a set of experiments to
investigate free will.

The study involves measurements of the neuronal activity in the basal
ganglia in patients with Parkinson’s disease undergoing implantation of
electrodes for deep brain stimulation. The experiments are carried out at
the department of Neurology at the Virchow clinic in Berlin. The student
assistant is expected:

to help before and during the recording, mainly in the interaction with
the patients
to aid in the preprocessing of the data
to support in the analysis of behavioral data

*Requirements*

The candidate must necessary be a German native speaker, fluent in English
and ideally interested in neuroscience. Previous experience with
experiments involving patients is highly desirable. Programming skills,
ideally in Matlab, are of advantage but not compulsory. The working load
is 40 hours/month corresponding to 400 Euro (netto) per month. The
contract will be for 4 months with possibility of extension. Due to
difficulties in predicting the availability of patients time-wise
flexibility is required. The position must be filled as soon as possible.
