The position is open with immediate effect and the successful candidate will start as soon as possible. The position involves up to 80 working hours per month. The initial contract will be for short-term employment (until March 31, 2019) but can be extended.



Applicants must be at least in their third semester of study at a university in Berlin or Brandenburg. We encourage applications from students with an interdisciplinary outlook who are willing to enter a team working at the frontier between history writing and computer sciences.

The candidate should possess the following skills:

Coding experience in Python
Experience in working with XML
Experience with Docker
Nice to have: coding experience in Java and R.

 

Moreover, the candidate should have the ability to work both independently and in a team.

The position entails the following duties: coding, data manipulation, curation of databases. In addition, standard duties such as assistance in the organization of meetings and conferences, scanning & library services will also be required.

 

The salary is paid in accordance with the standard rates for student employment within the Max Planck Society’s program to support junior scientists.
